History

PRICE HILL BASEBALL OLDTIMERS
The Price Hill Baseball Oldtimers began as a group of men who played baseball at Dempsey Park More than 80 years ago. This group of men which included Andy Gallagher, Fred Edrich, John Buecker, Harry Ragor, Abbe broth, Joseph Hausfeld, Ed Boyle and Jim Boyle met every Sunday morning at Dempsey Park to play baseball and socialize. They all had a tremendous interest in Western Hills baseball and began the Dempsey Park Oldtimers Hall of Fame in 1952, inducting Andy Gallagher as the first honoree at Sunny Hollow Inn in Cheviot. The annual dinner meeting took place for over 40 years at Sunny Hollow until it was moved to the larger accommodations at The Farm.
This annual dinner and induction ceremony brings together many athletes who played with or against each other over the years. The present membership has a number of sons of the original group as well as Price Hill residents and men who have migrated west of Price Hill to Westwood, Mack, Cheviot, Groesbeck and to other areas of the county. This speaks of a tradition rich in spirit and concern for the community.
